HeroProfile Razz

Razz and Rags are a pair of free heroes in Kingdom Rush: Origins. They are unlocked at stage 10, Neverwonder. They start at level 5.

Description[]

Ever wondered what might happen when you push a little guy to the limit? Here is your answer. As the peaceful gnomes got trampled, their homes destroyed and their lands ruined by Twilight Elves, Ogres and Gnolls... one little guy decided that enough was enough, so he built a big guy to help him out. The result is the meanest tag team in the Kingdom Rush Hero roster.

Tips and Tricks[]

Razz and Rags are a physical hybrid harassing hero that excels in creating chaos within the enemy waves by themselves. They are excellent in dealing with swarms of enemies. Their Kamihares can instantly clear a group of Gnolls and damage even tanky enemies considerably, while their Hammer Time ability can stun enemies around them, stalling them for enough time to dish out extra damage. Changling, their Hero Spell, if timed and placed correctly, can create an army of Ragdolls (up to eight at a time) that serve as temporary meat shields for other incoming enemies, clumping them together in disorder. A major disadvantage of Razz and Rags, however, is that their movement speed is extremely slow, comparable to that of an Earth Elemental, so one must prepare in advance their next moves to better utilize Razz and Rags. Although the pair fall short in terms of damage despite the area effect that Rags possesses and Razz having a quick firing speed, with careful and precise micromanagement, Razz and Rags are capable of sowing anarchy within enemy troops, clumping them together for a well positioned and timed Hammer Time.

  • Quick enemies will have a hard time getting past an area that Razz and Rags are defending. Their tanky and disruptive playstyle works well at holding an area down.
  • With Raggified, an enemy can be stopped while also serving as an ally, effectively stalling 2 enemies at once. In stages with the presence of enemies that deals a lot of damage, Raggified can be a death sentence to the victim. Examples of enemies that can help to destroy Raggified's victims are Twilight Heretic, Twilight Golem, Shadow Champion, etc.
    • It is recommended to micromanage Razz and Rags so they can avoid targeting the worst possible enemy with low health, which will waste the skill. Therefore, a good idea is to bring Razz and Rags ahead of your towers so they will be able to Raggify healthier foes to sow chaos.
      • Taking advantage of having additional blockers such as barracks can help group enemies together, allowing Hammer Time and Kamihare to truly shine. Do note however, that Raggified victims transform back to their original forms after a maximum of 7 seconds. So it may be best to adopt a strategy that best allows your Raggified victims to die whilst still allowing chokepoints to help assist to offset enemy momentum.
  • Kamihare is a great damaging skill that covers the entire lane Razz and Rags are defending. Kamihare can strike enemies from across the lane, providing map-wide support.
    • However, it has a hefty cooldown of 36 seconds, therefore positioning Razz and Rags towards a lane is tantamount so the hares can better avoid picking the wrong lane to travel.
    • Do note that not all of the Kamihares will connect with foes as they are positioned to walk in a wide lane area. The only way to allow the hares to hit opponents is if the foes are mostly clumped together, a situation which harder waves or Razz himself can create through his abilities.
  • Angry Gnome is Razz and Rags' damaging skill which can be used liberally. It can be used for supporting the chaotic atmosphere against foes, and is better positioned towards the front-most targets of the wave.
  • Hammer Time is Razz and Rags' signature crowd control skill aside from Raggified and Changeling. It deals a series of attacks in an area that causes damage and stuns to enemies hit by Hammer Time.
    • Hammer Time pairs well with artillery towers, since it can group up enemies for artillery to hit all at once.
    • Razz and Rags are automatically controlled by the AI during this phase, which means the pair would be left vulnerable against ranged attacks and abilities. The AI will sometimes miss some enemies owing to the movement of the ability. Do take note of this to avoid being attacked or killed when performing Hammer Time.
      • On iOS, players are unable to control nor interrupt Razz and Rags whilst performing Hammer Time, making them extremely vulnerable. Players should use extra caution when using Razz and Rags on iOS.
    • With proper micromanagement however, Hammer Time can be used to disrupt the most number of enemies possible, allowing your soldiers, reinforcements and ragdolls to better kill or heavily wound the enemies with minimal drawbacks.
  • Changeling is a very versatile Hero Spell that can make or break combat situations, and smart targeting is key to maximize its utility. Changeling can be aimed anywhere in the level, creating a temporary chokepoint for a moment.
    • Aiming straight into a group of enemies is only effective if others are behind them. It's often best to aim ahead of a group, where the AOE radius can clip the first few enemies in a group and transform them so that they can fight the enemies behind them.
    • Unless a massive AOE attack like Thunderbolt is ready, it is advised not to transform an entire lone group of enemies. It can potentially throw off the timing of tower abilities, finely tuned to activate at the right time with a proper setup. Leaving the group of enemies stuck there gives the possibility of other enemies grouping together with them for an even stronger horde with a better chance of breaking through.
    • It is worth noting that Ragdolls have a VERY small combat range, take this into account when deciding who to change.
    • Do also take note and be wary of every possible domino effect that can occur when transfiguring foes into ragdolls via Changeling as well as adding more reinforcements in the fight with ragdolls involved, as improper planning will lead to foes taking advantage of the situation to enhance their fighting prowess, or at worst not even allowing the ragdolls to lose HP which is a waste of a unique and useful hero spell.
    • A level ends when there are no enemies left on the screen. So, if the last surviving enemies of a level are grouped together, you can use Changeling to end the level early.
  • Keep Razz's placement in mind on any stage that uses teleporters, as it is easy to waste the cooldown against the back end of a teleporter.
  • With a high health rating and no armor, Razz and Rags are able to hold on their own, but lacks overall durability, so players should try not to let Razz and Rags take too much damage.
  • Because Razz's standard attack does physical area damage, it is smart to have them fight a magic resistant enemy so Rags can damage them up close with his physical attack while Razz chips away at armored enemies passing by.
    • Rags' slow area attack (2.0s) is somewhat compensated by Razz's fast ranged attack (0.8s) which deals magic damage.

Range[]

  • Scope: 220 in ranged, 90 in melee

Quotes[]

  • "Argy bargy!"
  • "This is amazing!"
  • "Am I ragging on you?"
  • "Razzmatazz!"
  • (death) "No, no, no. . ."

Trivia[]

  • Razz & Rags appearance of a small person riding a larger one is likely based on the relationship between Bran Stark and Hodor in George R.R. Martin’s series A Song of Ice and Fire, or the T.V. adaption Game of Thrones. There is also an obvious resemblance to the dwarf/bodyguard duo "Master Blaster" from the 1985 action movie Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome in which a large hammer is briefly used in a fight scene.
  • Razz is the second Gnome hero introduced, following Hacksaw from the first Kingdom Rush. Because of their different appearances and fighting styles, it is unlikely they are related, but they both did think of the concept of building something big to help them in battle.
  • The music that plays during the Hammer Time attack is the 8-bit theme song from the original arcade game Donkey Kong. It’s more well known as the music that plays in the Smash Brothers series when a player picks up the Hammer item, which causes them to rapidly beat a giant hammer up and down to attack opponents. The name of the skill is derived from a popular song of the same name.
