Tips and Tricks[]

Bruce is a physical melee hero that excels in one-on-one melee combat situations via dealing massive true damage to a single target via bleed, with elements of group crowd control. Bruce's focus is on inflicting the most damage to a single tough enemy while on prolonged combat with the help of his skillset. However, while Bruce can tank exceptionally well against the toughest of foes, Bruce suffers from a poor heal rate over time and will die easily without the intervention of his units. Therefore, it is recommended for players to assist Bruce's frail means of recovery by supporting him with damage amplifications, crowd control, and healing. With the right pack, Bruce will be able to greatly contribute to a fight together with a well trained pack of fighters.

It is recommended for Bruce to be sent against powerful foes to deal the most damage to them, since his damage potential can often be wasted and counted as overkill against most weak enemies. Bruce's Sharp Claws deals True Damage along with Grievous Bites, allowing him to pierce armor better than any other melee hero (except Reg'son). While his normal attacks still deal physical damage, the bonus damage from proccing bleed on the target is so high that he can deal more than double of his normal melee attack range. This works well in conjunction with archer towers with the Bloodletting Shot upgrade. Bruce doesn't have any area damage skills, meaning that he will have a hard time dealing with floods of enemies. However, this can be partially compensated for by King's Roar, Bruce's crowd control skill.

  • Sharp Claws is Bruce's signature damage skill, it is a passive that grants a 10% chance for foes to bleed for up to 117 true damage over 5 seconds. Additionally, if the target is currently bleeding, Bruce's subsequent melee attacks will deal a bonus of up to 45 extra physical damage.
    • Bleed inflictions from Archer Towers and Bruce's Sharp Claws stack retrospectively with each other. This means Bruce will be able to consistently deal extra damage to bleeding targets so long as the enemy is bleeding via Bloodletting Shot or Sharp Claws.
    • It is therefore recommended to engage in combat with a tough enemy that is currently bleeding, as bleed effect from both Archer Towers and Bruce stack, meaning Bruce will be able to deal damage to his full potential without having to rely on Sharp Claws' low proc chance.
  • King's Roar serves as Bruce's crowd control tool. Triggered when there are more than 3 enemies around Bruce, King's Roar stuns up to 6 enemies for a maximum of 3 seconds, and includes flying enemies. King's Roar has a cooldown of 20 seconds.
    • Bruce can best utilize the skill under his own temporary chokepoint, or under an established player chokepoint. The stun animation is quite short, allowing Bruce to attack foes whilst they are stunned.
  • Lion's Fur helps increase Bruce's maximum health, which somewhat helps in staying in combat longer on his own. With Lion's fur at tier 3, Bruce has the highest amount of HP of any hero in Origins (680 after Lion's Fur is fully upgraded).
  • Grievous Bites serve as Bruce's single target damaging tool that aids in Bruce's single combat prowess. Grievous Bites deal a total of 285 true damage in 3 bites in the span of a second, meaning Bruce should maintain melee combat for the skill to take full effect. Grievous Bites have a cooldown of 20 seconds.
    • Grievous Bites do not apply Sharp Claws to the target.
  • Guardian Lions, Bruce's Hero Spell, is a powerful tool that summons up to 5 lions that head down a chosen path and disable up to 5 targets, dealing up to 240 true damage to affected enemies and disabling them for 3 seconds. Allies are able to attack disabled targets with no damage penalty. Guardian Lions have a generous cooldown of 45 seconds.
    • Guardian Lions can alternatively be utilized on bosses. While bosses won't be disabled by the ability, they will be heavily damaged instead, as each lion will deal up to 500 damage to a boss, with a grand total of up to 2500 damage, which is a substantial amount of damage.
